Police are searching for the person who is suspected of shooting at a woman along Highway 101 in Santa Rosa this morning.
The Sonoma County Sheriff's Department received a report of a shooting along Highway 101 at 7:26 a.m. A woman told police that she was driving along north Highway 101 just south of the River Road exit at 6 a.m.
She said that she noticed a vehicle -- described as a maroon or burgundy colored SUV -- tailgating her. Before she could move from the number one lane she was driving in, the suspect pulled up alongside her and shot at her car.
"The victim heard but did not see the shot fired and assumed her tire had gone flat as the suspect vehicle sped off," a Sheriff's press release stated. "The victim arrived at work shortly thereafter and discovered an apparent bullet hole to the passenger side of her vehicle. The victim was unharmed."
The Sheriff's Department Violent Crime Detectives responded to the scene and are asking the public's help to capture the shooter.
Both the driver and front seat passenger of the SUV were described as white or Hispanic males of unknown age, the release stated. The victim stated that the SUV was being driven “erratically” both before and after the incident.
Anyone with information about this incident, the suspects involved or the suspect vehicle is asked to please contact Detective Sal Borruso at 707-565-2185.
